How long have you owned this car? About six months.

Is there anything unique about the history of this car? I'm the third owner. The car was originally purchased on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, and sat for over two years.

Why did you choose this car to purchase? Low mileage and limited styling cues such as the early Westmoreland front end.

What other cars did you consider? MKII VR6.

What was your objective with this car? Euro+

What tuning style would you describe this car as (ex. Euro, Bling, OEMplus, street racer, auto crosser)? Euro+.

Who helped you build this car? All work done by myself.

What makes your car special? It's a 1980 Rabbit L with full leather interior, early Westmoreland front end, and 64,000 original miles to boot.

What is your favorite part/feature/function? The early Westy setup.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car? Too many to list, really, from OEM+ to wild all-out show cars.

What don't you like about this car? Some slight rust issues.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car? Time and money, as always.

How did you overcome the issue? I couldn't, really. Still trying to get [to work on] the car when I want.

What would you change if you could? I'd do a full strip down and respray.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project? About 5 1/2.

What would you do to the car if money were no object? A full strip down and respray
with a 20/20 6-speed swap.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project? Myself.

What do your family and friends say about this car? They love it.

What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car? Driving down a local highway and having a old v-dub head in his minibus actually pull me over to check out the car and talk to me.

Has this car competed in any events? Results? Not yet. I still haven't really finished the project.

What is your favorite place to drive this car? The highway, cruising in 4th.

What is your ideal day with this car? Saturday, no work, weekend's just started and I can get into anything.

Who gets to drive this car? Me.

If your car had a motto, what would it be? "You talking to me?" à la Taxi Driver.

If you had to name your car, what would you name it? Blondie (Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly).

What was your previous project? 1995 GTI VR6 all-motor.

What is your next project? MKII Jetta coupe.

What one word best describes your car? Me.

Anything else you’d like to share? Thanks to my family, ///BAR, parts4vw.com, nothing-leaves-stock, Rabbit Parts, VWvortex, and oldskool industries.
