How long have you owned these cars?
4+ years.

Is there anything unique about the history of these cars?
Not that I know of.

Why did you choose these cars to purchase?
I always wanted a white GTI without a sunroof, and I wanted my race car to match my daily driver.

What other cars did you consider?
None.

What was your objective with these cars?
To do everything with: drive daily, rain, snow, sun, autocross, drag race, tow rig; and with the race car, to have fun and win races!

What tuning style best describes these cars (Euro, bling, OEMplus, street racer, auto crosser)?
Euro racer and rally.

Who helped you build these cars?
No one.

What makes your cars special?
All the mods and most fabrication done by me.

What is your favorite part/feature/function?
16v: engine and great power; the race car: VW quality and durability of the 8v engine.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Just wanted a clean yet racy car — pro rally.

What don't you like about this car?
Paint isn’t perfect.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Fixing all the things wrong when I bought it.

How did you overcome the issue?
A lot of time and new parts.

What would you change if you could?
Paint. I’d love it to be all original showroom paint.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of these projects?
9, white 16v, and 10, green rally car.

What would you do to the cars if money were no object?
Buy a real Rallye Golf and paint it white and do a crazy 16v in it with the Syncro drive line.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Friends.

What do your family and friends say about this car?
Everyone likes it. People think the rally car is too nice to be a race car.

What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?
Pulling a 17’ Bayliner Capri boat to Chesapeake Bay, putting it in the water and pulling it out! And winning the 2WD points championship at the Buck Motorsports Park in 2007.

Have these cars competed in any events? Results?
[The] white one, autocross. And the green one, rallycross and tuff truck events. Entered 19 events in 2007; 8 1sts, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 1 4th, 1 7th, 1 9th and a dnf due to a broken distributor.

What is your favorite place to drive these cars?
Everywhere! And the rally car, Shartlesville or Susquehanna Speedway.

What is your ideal day with these cars?
Warm sunny day, all cleaned up and just cruisin’ around. [In the] green rally [car], winning whatever race I’m at!

Who gets to drive these cars?
Me.

If your cars had a motto, what would it be?
The little engine that could.

What was your previous project?
1987 GTI 16v with a 4-fogger nitrous system.

What one word best describes your cars?
Capable.

Anything else you’d like to share?
I drive and race VWs because I believe in the cars and what they can do.
