So what do you get when you have close to seventy R32’s together at VF-Engineering's new facility? You get one hell of a cool way to spend a Sunday. Eugene Lee (from the SoCal R32 mailing list) got together with Nik Saran from VF-Engineering and the two of them organized a great get-together for R32 and VW enthusiasts alike. The event offered a little bit for everyone, including an install demo, a small car show, a free catered lunch, a generous raffle, and a lot of camaraderie between R32 owners.
Nik and his crew from VF-Engineering took a stock R32 owned by Art (user name Diocles in our forums) and installed a stage 2 supercharger kit with an intercooler in a little over 4 hours. This was definitely a sight to be seen, considering a normal install takes between 11-12 hours to complete. When all was said and done, Art’s first impression of his newly awakened R32 is that it “Pulls like a freight train.” Now, that's not a bad endorsement!
This GTG really must have been the place to be - besides the 69 R32 participants (as well as a few other Volkswagen and Audi owners), several well known industry people showed up to check out the event as well. Some notable attendees included Mike Potter of parts4vws.com, Raffi Kazanjian of Eurosport, George Turner of Dubwars, Derek and Ryan of Exklusiv, and Garrett Lim of GIAC, who was on hand flashing computers with his latest software.

All of the raffle prizes were well received, but GIAC's pre-release FlashLoader with all five programs was definitely the most sought after. Exklusiv brought two sets of Golf IV taillightss, Parts4VWs had two Golf V wiper kits, EuroCullen chipped in with ten sets of clear LED bumper and side marker lights, Evolution threw in a cold air intake, EIP tossed in a short shift kit, HPA contributed short shift kit of their own, Parts4Euro had a $200 discount on HIDs, 4Grounding donated one of their Hyper Grounding kits, and European Technologies provided one of their custom black Volkswagen Passat W8 over head console.
A special congratulations should go out to the three winners of the car show portion of the GTG:
1st – QBNR32
2nd – TTIGG
3rd – MR Ginster
Even though I am not an R32 owner, I will definitely be on the lookout for the next big event this group plans - hopefully, they won't mind me tagging along. This was a great group of enthusiasts and VF-Engineering couldn't have been a better host. The shop was spotless, the food was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sneak peak tour I got of their state-of-the-art machine shop. Thank you to everyone involved - I had a great time!
