Volkswagen Amarok Power Concept Leaks Ahead of Worthersee Debut

Volkswagen’s Amarok Power Concept has leaked ahead of its debut at Worthersee this week.  While details are sparse, we can say that it looks nearly identical to last year’s concept.  Based on the tachometer in the interior shots, it looks like the Amarok is most likely powered by a 3.0L TDI.  German news outlet Auto Zeitung is reporting that the concept is a rolling 5000 watt DJ booth, which from the equipment visible in the Amarok’s bed is completely believable.

Other highlights include a full custom interior with Recaro-style bucket seats, a lowered ride height and more aggressive bodywork.  We will have more information on this concept as it becomes available, but in the meantime check out additional photos below.

Update: A press release with more details has surfaced, and can be found below.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is presenting the Amarok “Power” and shows an idea for mobile event sound at Wörthersee: The spacious cargo area of the 5.25 -meter pickups provides enough storage space for all the equipment that is needed for parties such as the GTI Meet.  In addition, the design is flexible enough for Disc Jockeys to transport and easy to build at the venue- with a total output of 5,000 watts this sound system brings a punch to Wörthersee.

But this particular Amarok has “rhythm” with its varied game metallic, high-gloss and matt surfaces: deep gray metallic paint with “Dynamic gray” highlights create a technical, cool look- the use of micro glass flakes make it stand out. The mirror housings and powerful 22-inch wheels (tires 295/ 35) are painted in the color “gunmetal.”  Black and orange foiling on the door and sill as well as orange-colored brake calipers are further accents .

True gems, however, are the bi-xenon headlights with their chrome inserts and the equally chromed twin tailpipes of the Amarok “Power” and in the interior, the technically sophisticated look remains.  Stylish black and “orange power” nappa leather, black Alcantara steering wheel, bucket seats and the door panels is also combined in the cockpit with high quality carbon fiber leather.  Further attention to detail: In the seats, the honeycomb radiator grille comes as perforation again expressed; a silhouette of the Amarok is lasered below the header into the leather.

And of course, these subtleties are continued in the installed sound equipment: centerpiece of the DJ technique is a Xone: 92 Allen & Heath.  A Pioneer CDJ900NXS player is used.  Sound is provided by two VOID ACOUSTICS Impulse 3t speakers, which were specially designed for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. By also using VOID ACOUSTICS Stasys Xair subwoofer “Amarok Power” is well prepared to reflect the very low frequencies.

The VOID ACOUSTICS mycro 6 speakers to be used as a monitoring were integrated into their own functional body of sound.  All individual components have been designed so that you fill in the installed state, the entire volume of 3.5 m2 large loading area of the Amarok SingleCab perfect as a “compact – cube” which offers space for the entire sound system.  Ready for when the next open air party comes.
