Second Annual Vintage Watercooled GTG Share Comments The weekend of November 11-13, 2005 saw the second annual “Vintage Water Cooled Dub Get Together” in Southern California. Not merely a show, this gathering had a little bit of everything including a BBQ, a canyon drive, and show and shine picnic with the beautiful Bonelli Park as the scenic backdrop in the town made famous by “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”. Friday night got the weekend started with an informal BBQ at a local ‘dubber’s house. Will, aka “veetarded” on the VWvortex forums, was kind enough to host a small gathering at his home for a few forum members who had traveled a great distance to enjoy the weather and the weekend’s events. Joining us was Mike (Michael Bee) from New York, John (Waagenz) from Maryland, Andy (polov8) from the United Kingdom, and Grant (roccodingo) all the way from Perth, Australia. Saturday afternoon everyone met up for lunch at a local In’n’Out to fuel up before heading out for a fun and beautiful drive up Azusa Canyon. If you are looking for an entertaining drive on a beautiful Southern California day, I strongly recommend it. To finish up the weekend, everyone gathered at Bonelli Park in San Dimas to show off their cars and enjoy a picnic by the lake. The old-school guys certainly know how to have a fun ‘dub-filled weekend. If you want a great way to spend a beautiful fall weekend in Southern California, then watch the calendar for the third annual Vintage Water Cooled GTG next November!
