We can’t promise you that we’ll feature every car that gets submitted, but we encourage you to be creative with your answers, as that’s always a good way to score some brownie points with us. Quality photos won’t hurt your chances any, either, so please include up to five with your submission.

Q: How long have you owned this car?

A: I bought in February this year and it was finally delivered to me on May 12th.

Q: Is there anything unique about the history of this car?

A: This is the first production watercooled VW.

Q: Why did you choose this car to purchase?

A: I like rare and unusual cars. I currently have 2 Type 34 Ghias and when this K70 came up for sale I jumped at it right away.

Q: What other cars did you consider?

A: I’m always looking for the unusual. I had looked at a Notchback and early Dashers as well.

Q: What was your objective with this car?

A: To preserve a piece of VW history here in the US.

Q: Who helped you build this car?

A: VW did!

Q: What makes your car special?

A: It’s the only one I know of in the US, but I am dying to hear from and meet other owners.

Q: What is your favorite part/feature/function?

A: The front brake discs are mounted up by the transmission and not by the wheels like most cars!

Q: What don’t you like about this car?

A: Finding parts. Knock on wood I haven’t needed anything yet.

Q: What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?

A: Getting it shipped to me.

Q: How did you overcome the issue?

A: Spending the money!

Q: What would you change if you could?

A: There’s nothing I would change yet.

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?

A: It’s hard to say – the project has just begun…

Q: What would you do to the car if money were no object?

A: I’d restore it to concours condition.

Q: Who has been your biggest critic of this project?

A: Myself.

Q: What do your family and friends say about this car?

A: My family looks at it as “just another one of Eric’s cars.”

Q: What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?

A: Pushing it down the street because the car carrier couldn’t fit down my street.

Q: Has this car competed in any events?

A: Not yet.

Q: What is your favorite place to drive this car?

A: Not sure yet.

Q: What is your ideal day with this car?

A: A day where I can cruise around with Lancias, Fiats, Citroens and other boxy Euro sedans.

Q: Who gets to drive this car?

A: Me!

Q: What was your previous project?

A: I always have several going on at one time – my ’70 Ghia ‘vert and my ’66 Camper are a couple I can name.

Q: What is your next project?

A: My ’81 Scirocco.

Q: What one word best describes your car?

A: Unique!
