Q: Is there anything unique about the history of this car? A: The guy who owned it before me sold it because he wanted a Chevy Cavalier. Q: Why did you choose this car to purchase? A: Because I like the space and color of the Jetta. Q: What other cars did you consider? A: A Volvo 240 turbo. Q: What was your objective with this car? A: I wanted to make it a fast but still able to be a daily driver. Q: What tuning style would you describe this car as? A: OEM+ and Euro. Q: Who helped you build this car? A: My whole family Helped me, along with Momentum Tuning and the Auto Firme. Q: What makes your car special? A: It’s the only 4-door Jetta GLI in Calypso Green with a full 2001 1.8T motor and drivetrain I have ever seen. Q: What is your favorite part/feature/function? A: The power the car has on the highway. Q: Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car? A: My father. Q: What don’t you like about this car? A: I don’t like the 4-inch speakers in the dash. Q: What was your biggest obstacle in building this car? A: Finding a reasonably priced motor. Q: How did you overcome the issue? A: My girlfriend had just gotten a 2001 GTI 1.8T. The car was mint and only had 23,000 miles on it. She drove the car for about 2 months until getting rear ended. I bought the totaled car for 1,500 dollars and took the car down to Momentum Tuning. They took out the motor, tranny and everything else needed. Then I sold the rest for 1,500 dollars. So in the end I got the motor for free. Q: What would you change if you could? A: I would have smoothed the engine bay before putting the motor in. Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project? A: I’d say a 7 or 8. Q: What would you do to the car if money were no object? A: I would strip the car down to nothing and make it look like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Q: Who has been your biggest critic of this project? A: My friend, Erik. Q: What do your family and friends say about this car? A: They love it and can’t get over how fast it is. Q: What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?
