How long have you owned this car? About 2 years.

Is there anything unique about the history of this car? Uhh ya. So far it’s the only correct Harlequin-schemed Jetta that I know of.

What drew you to this specific car? I had a Jetta a few years back and sold it and regretted it ever since. I had been keeping an eye out for a replacement and a buddy of mine decided to give it away for free! He kept having transmission issues and was fed up so that’s how it became mine.

What other cars did you consider? None.

What was your objective with this car? To make it a Harlequin.

What tuning style would you describe this car as? OEM.

Who helped you build this car? Me myself and I.

What makes your car special? Definitely the paint scheme.

What is your favorite part/feature/function? The paint.

Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car? The Harlequin Golfs inspired me. I liked Pistachio the best so I used it as the base.

What don’t you like about this car? That it is an automatic and the sunroof leaks.

What was your biggest obstacle in building this car? Nothing.

How did you overcome the issue? N/A

What would you change if you could? Nothing.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project? 10.

What would you do to the car if money were no object? Probably a custom interior.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project? My dad. He didn’t like the idea at first but once I painted it he was totally onboard.

What do your family and friends say about this car? They thought I was nuts. But once it was finished they fell in love.

What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car? Every day I drive it is memorable. Everyone taking pictures of it, compliments at stop lights, people stopping me in the stores to ask about it…

What is your favorite story about this car? I was at the store one time and this couple approached me, the man said he had a bet with his wife that I pieced my car together from a junk yard and she thought it came that way. Well sadly for him I had to inform him that technically it came from the factory that way.

Has this car competed in any events? Motorstadt VI and VII. Took 1st place at each.

What is your favorite place to drive this car? Everywhere.

What is your ideal day with this car? Northern Michigan.

Who gets to drive this car? My wife and I.

If your car had a motto, what would it be? No this car is not to promote gay pride!

If you had to name your car, what would you name it? The Rubik’s Cube.

What was your previous project? ’97 Cabrio.

What is your next project? Something aircooled.

What one word best describes your car? Colorful!

Any regrets? Tell us about it. Nope.

Anything else you’d like to share? I love my car.
