How long have you owned this car?
For about a year and half.
Is there anything unique about the history of this car?
Well its a CA car, late 95 obd2, and rust free.
What drew you to this specific car?
Windsor blue, bone stock, adult-driven, rust free mk3!! Need i say more??
What other cars did you consider?
i actually wasn’t in the market for another VW but my friend told me about this and i couldn’t resist.
What was your objective with this car?
To keep it clean and simple with some spice.
What tuning style would you describe this car as?
Who helped you build this car?
Myself, my boy Steveo, and good friend Nick from Specialty Cars. Nick has any and every tool imaginable. Not to mention a couple lifts. 😛
What makes your car special?
The fact that I came across a bone stock, untouched pinchwelds, rust free, California Mk3 GTI VR6.
What is your favorite part/feature/function?
Color, motor, buttery 5 speed. You can tell it was adult-driven.
Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car?
Friends, shows, vortex. I can go into depth but those three sum it up pretty good.
What don’t you like about this car?
Ahhhh! Window regulators, and setting the perfect stance (bags are for cheaters).
What was your biggest obstacle in building this car?
Oil pan clearance.
How did you overcome the issue?
Mk5 baffled aluminum R32 oil pan and pump, BFI stage 1 motor mounts, Mason Tech skid plate.
What would you change if you could?
Build a set of 16″ rs’s rather than 15″.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project?
What would you do to the car if money were no object?
Sell it and buy an E30 m3. 😉
Who has been your biggest critic of this project?
Haha a bunch of cats, but the best one is my girlfriend’s dad. He’s a nut! He has been building a 55 Chevy Belair Coupe gasser for the past couple years and it’s coming out amazing! S***’s tough!
What do your family and friends say about this car?
Friends love it, girlfriend hates it, my family says “Get rid of it, buy a real car.” Blah blah blah.
What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car?
HAHAHA puling on my buddies Mk3 VR, getting off the highway, and spinning a rod bearing. Perfect ending to my night!
What is your favorite story about this car?
Has this car competed in any events?
Not really. i always leave before events are over. I had it in Cult Classic, and the only show where I actually had it judged was Dubs on the Delaware.
What is your favorite place to drive this car?
Repaved highways and driving through tunnels with your boys!!
What is your ideal day with this car?
Nice cool fall morning and some need for speed.
Who gets to drive this car?
If your car had a motto, what would it be?
Get me back to the west coast! cant handle these PA roads.
If you had to name your car, what would you name it?
Who names their cars?
What was your previous project?
Another Mk3 GTI VR6
What is your next project?
Cant say there will be. Been researching a lot about BMW’S.
But if i had to buy another vw it would be a MK2 90-92 GLI 16v.
What one word best describes your car?
Any regrets? Tell us about it.
Rebuilding a set of 15″ rs001’s for a Mk3 vr6. Impossible to set a good stance.
