Since May 2009 Is there anything unique about the history of this car? I was looking for a car similar to the one I have and I had seen it on eBay and saw it later at a Lexus Dealership the same day. They had to sell it to me for the eBay price. What drew you to this specific car? Wanted one since about 2001 when I was stationed in Germany but couldn’t afford one. What other cars did you consider? None. What was your objective with this car? Initially to make it just a daily driver with no modifications What tuning style would you describe this car as? I would have to say little bit of OEM plus with some of my own flavor. Who helped you build this car? No one because it really has not been a build type project either. What makes your car special? To me, it’s not your typical GTI. What is your favorite part/feature/function? The turbo, I have always loved turbo’d engines. Who or what inspired the direction of modifications on this car? My inspiration, came from past and present featured rides on EUROTUNER and from you guys (VW Vortex) What don’t you like about this car? That it’s not a six speed and wish the turbo was bigger. What was your biggest obstacle in building this car? Money, Money and bills. How did you overcome the issue? Save a lot and income tax time. What would you change if you could? Focused more on performance parts rather than show parts. ***Image2:bottom*** On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the outcome of this project? 5. Only because there is a lot of room for improvement. What would you do to the car if money were no object? It would have to be, a BT, air ride, and different paint job. Who has been your biggest critic of this project? My wife. What do your family and friends say about this car? A lot of them simply say its “clean.” What is your most memorable/humorous/embarrassing moment with this car? When I first bought the car and hadn’t driven stick in a while, stalled out on a hill in the middle of traffic. What is your favorite story about this car? Don’t have any real stories per say but if I had to choose something that happened since I have had the car, it would have to be when I took it to the dealership to get an oil change, the manager had no idea how to put the car in reverse. It took him like 10 minutes after he figured it out. That was too funny. Has this car competed in any events? None so far. What is your favorite place to drive this car? Anywhere. What is your ideal day with this car? Going for a long drive, with the windows down and a warm day. Who gets to drive this car? Me, Myself and I. If your car had a motto, what would it be? MONEY PIT! If you had to name your car, what would you name it? MIA. I am a big fan of the Miami Heat and the color scheme of the car resembles the colors of that team. Also every time my wife wants us to take the car on a trip, the car is nowhere to be found. What was your previous project? 96 Dodge Neon What is your next project? None. This is my retirement car What one word best describes your car? Divorced…LOL Any regrets? Tell us about it. Wish I would have waited and bought a 20th Anniversary GTI. Anything else you’d like to share? That’s all.
