The dub werks Grill n’ Chill was held on Saturday, May 27th at Busse Woods in Illinois. This event was many things to the dub werks family. It was a great kickoff to the 2006 season, it was a huge THANK YOU to all the awesome dub werks customers who have turned to us for their tuning and maintenance needs over the last 6 years and most importantly, it was a way for the Chicagoland VW and Audi community to give a little back. This event not only had hot cars, lots of BBQ, cool raffle prizes and a rockin’ Hula Hoop Contest….it had a lot of AMAZING people who reached into their hearts and donated items for the Naperville Humane Society and the animals who live there while waiting for someone special to adopt them and give them their new forever homes.
In exchange for donations, attendees received raffle tickets towards many great prizes donated by companies who also reached into their hearts for this great cause. The Naperville Humane Society gave a wish list of items that they need at the shelter on a daily basis, each person who arrived that sunny morning brought with them items from the list. The van load of donations brought a smile to the faces of everyone involved, when I say a van load, I truly mean a van load, the AMS parts van was filled clear to the roof with food and other goodies. Once the donations were unloaded at the Naperville Humane Society, we were told it was their largest non-monetary donation is the shelters 26 year existence. This was absolutely amazing!!
The event brought out an estimated 90-95 Volkswagens and Audis and even a few pleasing to the eye non-VAG cars stopped in for a visit as well. Just before the drawing for the raffle prizes, a contest for the Hula Hoop champion was held. This was a site for eyes to see, male or female didn’t matter, there were some darn good hoopers of both sexes. The winner received the Hardcore Champion Belt and a $100 gift certificate to dub werks. Rumor is some are already practicing for next year.
The cars were clean, the sun was hot and the crowds had a lot of heart, that’s my idea of a great event. Big thanks to GIAC, AWE Tuning, EIP Tuning, VF-Engineering, South Bend Clutch, Evolution Motorsports, Liberty Volkswagen, New South Performance, LeBlanc Detailing, The Autobarn of Mount Prospect, AMS (Automotosports), GJ Roca, Greg Tivadar, Bill Clavin, Adriana from The Naperville Humane Society, Seth from D3, Eric from AMS, Mike from VWOA, Dray Perkins and all the great dub werks customers who attended the event and truly made it what it was. Thank you.
