Worthersee 2014’s Best- Volkswagen Air-Cooled Builds

Worthersee 2014 was one for the recordbooks.  Coming in at roughly six times larger than Waterfest, there was plenty to see and do around the lakeside town of Reifnitz during the roughly two week invasion of cars manufactured by the Volkswagen Group.  To streamline things a bit, we have gone through our nearly two thousand photos to bring you the best of the best.

Here is our list of the best fourth, fifth and sixth generation Volkswagen Air-Cooled models in attendance in no particular order.

2014 Worthersee Day 7 Si Gray 1020 600x375

On day seven of our coverage, Si Gray saw this squareback parked in the town of Reifnitz sporting great patina and stance.

This single cab was seen on day four of our coverage, and turned out to be one of our favorites from this year’s event.

Si Gray found this Karmann Ghia on day 6 of his coverage, looking very well executed with redone bright work and cosmic-style wheels.

Our own George Achorn saw this Beetle running around town on day 14 that was lowered with amazing patina and a period correct aftermarket Air Conditioning unit.

This single cab was seen in the Werk 34 booth in Reifnitz on day 14, with excellent patina and lowered on Porsche Fuchs-inspired wheels.

This split window Beetle was either a real 82E, or played the role quite well.  The 82E was a Beetle which rode on a Kubelwagen chassis, and just 688 were built.

This late model beetle looked incredible with fresh paint, shaved bumpers and chrome wheels.

This Beetle was done extremely tastefully as a sort of mild rest-mod with period-inspired modifications.

Of the many Beetles at Worthersee, this as one of the best.  Fresh black paint, red steel wheels and white wall tires made this one stand out.

Finally, this custom green Beetle had flared fenders and a tough stance, which turned quite a few heads.
