Ahead of this year's Essen Motor Show, BBS has announced the premier of their CI-R, an all-new design to be released this coming season.  Coming in only 20" diameter with widths ranging from 8.5-10.5" for the time being, the CI-R uses back-milled spokes and additional weight optimization technologies to weigh less than the extremely popular CH-R in the same size.

  • New highlight from Schiltach celebrates its premiere at the Essen Motor Show
  • Concave high performance wheel in the distinctive Y-spoke design
  • Explicit focus on weight optimization
  • Numerous applications in 20-inch size for premium class passenger cars

World premiere at the Essen Motor Show: premium wheel manufacturer BBS from Schiltach presents its newly developed CI-R to the public for the first time. The distinctive high performance wheel scores with the established BBS genes, the attractive Y-spoke design and a weight optimization, whereby the CI-R boasts even less weight than the BBS bestseller CH-R.

Year after year, the Essen Motor Show offers numerous manufacturers a welcome stage to present their highlights for the coming season to a wide audience. BBS is also using the opportunity in 2014 for a world premiere: With its new wheel design CI-R, the premium manufacturer from the Black Forest is setting new standards. The CI-R temporarily represents the unmistakable culmination of a successful design line and follows the current trend with its concave shape.

The wheel captivates not only visually with its distinctive, BBS typical Y-spokes, but is also equipped with all kinds of technical finesse. Weight optimization here is top priority. Thanks to the proven Flow-Forming technology and back-milled spokes, the CI-R is an absolute lightweight construction wheel and weighs in even lighter than the BBS classic CH-R. During production of the 20-inch wheel, three molds provide for three different concavities. Particularly concave here are the rear axle wheels.

The CI-R will initially come in sizes 8.5 x 20, 9 x 20, 9.5 x 20, 10 x 20 and 10.5 x 20 inches in the color Satin Platinum, and includes a General Operating Permit (German abbreviation: ABE) and a laser engraved KBA number. For 2015, a 19-inch version is being planned. The BBS logo is also lasered on the outer rim. The wheel will be available starting from 540 Euro (non-binding retail price including value added tax). The new BBS design is ideal for passenger cars in the premium class such as Audi (including S and RS), BMW (including M-models), Mercedes (including AMG) or Tesla. But BBS also offers attractive combinations for Hyundai, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan and Citroën, Peugeot, Renault, Opel and VW. Of course the CI-R, like all BBS cast wheels, is 100 percent produced in Germany.
