The Audi A8 has captured one of the most coveted awards of the year: the readers of the motoring magazine “Auto Zeitung” awarded the “Auto Trophy 2003″ for the category “Luxury Class Overall” to the top model from the brand with the four-ring badge.
The editors of Cologne-based Auto Zeitung reported a total of 81,292 votes cast. 26.1 percent of those taking part voted for the Audi A8. The other contenders were left trailing some distance behind. The Maybach came second with 18.36 percent of the vote, followed by the Mercedes S-Class on 16.17 percent.
Over the 16-year history of the Auto Trophy, Audi has now captured this coveted award on 22 occasions.
Some 18,000 of the Audi A8 have already been built at the Neckarsulm plant since its market launch exactly one year ago, in November 2002. With its lightweight, high-strength Audi Space Frame body and its distinctly dynamic handling, it has become generally acknowledged as the most sporty saloon model in the luxury class.
