Audi Starts the Year with Record Figures Share Comments AUDI AG has started the year 2004 with new sales records. With sales totalling over 191,000 vehicles (up 8.3 percent), never before were more Audi models sold in a first quarter than in this year. Excellent figures were also recorded in March 2004: with 82,000 vehicles sold, Audi succeeded in passing the sales mark of 80,000 models in a single month for the first time in company history. “We are very satisfied with these figures. Especially in view of the fact that we achieved these record figures even though we haven’t even launched this year’s most important new models, the new Audi A6 and the A3 Sportback, yet. We are therefore optimistic that we’ll achieve another sales record for the whole of 2004,” says Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. Audi’s biggest market is still Germany where sales in the first three months of the year rose slightly to 55,159 vehicles (up 0.6 percent), despite continuing restraint among consumers. Audi’s second biggest market in the first quarter was Great Britain where sales were up by 13.3 percent to 23,347 vehicles. Sales of Audi models in Europe, excluding Germany, increased by 5.4 percent to 87,300 cars. For more discussion on this story, click on the link to our discussion forums at the left.
