Volkswagen has long been at the forefront in both print and film advertisement, and as such we are always on the lookout for the latest to come out of their advertising agencies. This search lead us to the advertising blog ‘Gute Werbung‘, (German for “Good Advertising”) which has showcased many of the aforementioned print and film ads from Volkswagen’s agencies around the world. Let’s get into two of our favorite print ads.
From Volkswagen’s South African Agency Ogilvy & Mather, this print spot for the new Golf R is visually striking, and comical in a very German sort of way. You see, they are implying that the Golf R accelerates at more than 9.8 m/s2. Get it? Because thats the acceleration rate for free fall due to Earth’s gravitational pull. Like I said, funny in a German sort of way.
Again from the South African Agency Ogilvy & Mather, but this time with a focus on Volkswagen Genuine Parts. We’ve all tried to fit a non-genuine replacement part at some time in our Volkswagen ownership, and fitment is usually suspect to put it kindly. This campaign focuses in on that, with a clever use of puzzle pieces. A bit more humorous that the previous ad, and in a perfect world we would regularly see this type of signage in our local Volkswagen dealer’s Parts Department.
