Loren Sheffer, owner of Borton Volkswagen in Delray Beach, Fla., is the 2003 American International Automotive Dealers Association (AIADA) Dealer of the Year. The award is bestowed annually upon a dealer that has exhibited outstanding dedication to the automotive industry and extraordinary contributions to their community.
Sheffer is a co-creator of the Delray Beach Youth Vocational Charter School, a unique school operated within Borton Volkswagen offering at-risk high school students educational and vocational training. Sheffer brought together leaders from local government, law enforcement and education to create the innovative program, which allows students to earn their high school diploma while also obtaining basic automotive repair skills.
“I am constantly amazed by what these teens can do when given a chance,” said Loren Sheffer, owner of Borton Volkswagen. “The young people of America are our most important legacy and our dealership family is grateful for the opportunity to help.”

Sheffer serves on behalf of VW and other international nameplate dealers as AIADA’s Florida State Legislative Director, bringing dealer issues directly to elected officials. In addition, he is president of the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association.
