• New EU 6 engines are more efficient than forerunner
  • Even more infotainment and assistance systems available
Beetle and Beetle Cabriolet customers can now enjoy even more sporty and networked motoring. With five new engines and step by step the second generation modular infotainment system (MIB) the Beetle represents state-of-the-art technology. In addition, Volkswagen is offering further assistance systems and mobile online services for the Beetle.

Just before the end of the year three new petrol engines (771, 1102 and 1623 kW) and two diesel engines (814 and 1105 kW) will be introduced for the Beetle.  All engines comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard and are all more efficient than their forerunners. An example: the power output of the top-of-the-range 2.0 TSI engine for the Beetle has been increased from 155 kW to 162 kW. At the same time fuel consumption has been reduced by approximately 13 per cent. Drivers of the 2.0 TDI (81 kW / 110 PS) variant are also environmentally aware: CO2 emissions of 112 g/km mean efficiency class A.

In addition to the "Discover Media" navigation system that is available as an option, assistance systems and mobile services familiar from other model classes can be used in the Beetle. For example, the "Rear View" reversing camera assists the driver with reversing and parking manoeuvres. The camera picture in the display of the radio or radio/navigation system shows the area behind the vehicle and displays guidelines on the camera image to assist the driver with parking. Together with the "Rear Traffic Alert" which provides assistance when reversing out of a parking space, the "Blind Spot" sensor is now also available in the Beetle. This informs the driver about vehicles in the blind spot and thus facilitates lane changing, for example. The coasting function is a further new feature. The dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) controller senses when there is no acceleration and automatically shifts to neutral.

The Beetle is also a trendsetter when it comes to mobile online services. Infotainment services, for example weather or traffic information, can be accessed online by customers via the MIB.

In addition, further individualisation options are available for the interior. With the new colour packages "Tornado Red", "Pure White" and "Reflex Silver Metallic" the interior can be combined with various exterior colours.

The entry-level price for the Beetle with the new EU 6 engines is €17,825, prices for the Cabriolet start at €22,125.
