Since the merging of automotive icons and long-time business partners Volkswagen and Italdesign Giugiaro last May, we’ve been waiting to see what the design house responsible for shaping Volkswagen’s past had in mind for their future. And with Italdesign Giugiaro being the minds that came up with the first-generation Golf and Scirocco, it’s only fair that we’re now seeing two hatchback concepts come to light.
Said to appear at the Geneva Motor Show next week, the two hatchbacks definitely bring the no-nonsense feel of Italdesign concepts back to Wolfsburg. While there’s a few possibilities of what these concepts could turn into, the two-door has a lot of the Golf design language flowing through it, while the four-door is more technology-heavy, with cameras instead of side mirrors, which follows the Up! line’s objectives.
Nonetheless, the pictures apparently made their way out from the European patent registry’s offices, so there’s at least some serious backing to these two cars, we just have to wait until next week to find out in what capacity.
