Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen is making an impressive demonstration of the potential in the successful brand at this year’s AMI. The attractive model range starts with the compact Lupo and carries on with the Polo, the new Golf, New Beetle, New Beetle Cabriolet, Touran, Bora, Passat and Sharan. The luxury class saloon Phaeton and the offroader Touareg will also be on show.
Of course, the new Golf will be the centre of attention. The range on offer has been continually expanded since it was launched in October 2003. At the moment, not only are nine engines available, but there is also a range of innovative drive concepts such as the new DSG® dual clutch gearbox in combination with the economic TDI engines.
A further eye-catcher on the stand is the Polo FUN, the lifestyle model which makes clear optical statements. The range on offer is rounded off by the sporty Polo GT and the timelessly elegant Polo saloon.
Also on show in Leipzig are the New Beetle Cabriolet with the new top level engine 1.8-litre turbo (110 kW / 150 PS), the Passat 2.0 TDI with diesel particle filter, the Phaeton with extended wheelbase and the Touareg with further improved offroad characteristics.
The extremely varied Volkswagen vehicle range on show at the AMI in Leipzig is rounded off with the current special models Lupo “Rave”, Polo “Cricket”, Passat “Exclusive” and Sharan “Goal”.
