The fifth generation Volkswagen Multivan has been around for a long time, making it the perfect vehicle to shuttle the cast of The Expendables 3. All kidding aside, the Multivan provided comfortable transport for the “who’s who of action heroes” around the south of France during the Cannes Film Festival, and may have been suggested by former Phaeton owner Sylvester Stallone. Also present in the south of France for the event was the Amarok, which compliments the rough tough nature of the cast nicely. No word on if Arnold Schwarzenegger will be trading his Hummer for an Amarok just yet, though.

Stars from “The Expendables 3” emerge from a Multivan in Cannes
Hannover/Cannes –The cast resembles a who’s who of action heroes: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford. They all play in “The Expendables 3,” which premieres in movie theatres in the U.S. on 15 August. All the actors have come to Cannes in order to promote the film during the film festival there. Also along for the ride are 20 black Volkswagen Multivan Highline, which stand ready for the cast 24/7 as shuttle vehicles.
But not just Multivan vehicles were present at the meeting of Hollywoods’ strongest men but also the Amarok, the latest pickup truck of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The German actor Ralf Möller also came to France as the celebrity ambassador for the Volkswagen Group. “The Amarok is a really hot machine – I’ve got to show it to Arnie,” Möller announced and put his plan immediately into action, like you would expect from a true “Gladiator.”
At the photo shoot, the Amarok Canyon itself became a star: it served as a company car for Harrison Ford, who plays a CIA agent, and was the focus of a great deal of interest. That the director Patrick Hughes might have discovered the acting talent of the offroader from Hannover had not been announced yet at the time of going to press.
“We have one appointment after the other: photo shootings, press conference, party,” states Jonathan Yunger, Director of Creative Affairs for the American production company Millennium Films. “In a situation like this, the most important thing is that the agenda is scheduled right to the minute and it all comes off perfectly. The car pool service and especially the automobiles and their reliability are one of the most vital elements here. We’re delighted indeed to have found in Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles the best partner possible for this task.”
“Strong men and strong cars: they just belong together, and that’s why we’re happy to provide support to this Hollywood event,” adds Ramsis Moussa, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
