Volkswagen Germany Launches New Line of 2008 Bikes

02 July 2008 - Radiant sunshine, blowing air, the sweet smell of meadows and forests, and boundless freedom on two wheels: Outdoor fans, passionate cyclists and families alike all enjoy the feeling of exciting touring treks, relaxed family trips or laid-back shopping trips in the town center. The new Bike collection from Volkswagen Zubeör offers fastidious two-wheeler fans the correct bicycle, be it for offroad or the town center – at an attractive price to performance ratio. VW’s optional bike racks and carriers makes even the transport of the two-wheel companions co-ordinated with the different Volkswagen models fun.

The eyecatcher of the 2008 collection: The 16″ Mountain bike. This outdoor Jack of all trades is available with its framework painted in the cool lacquer finish of the new Volkswagen Scirocco’s “Candyweiß” — Candy White in the United States. The RST fork can be locked using a mechanical lockout function if necessary. Further highlights are a 24-Speed Shimano “Deore” gearset, stylish Black Jack tires, aluminum hollow-chamber rims from Rigida as well as the comfortable and stylish MTB Sport Saddle.

Versatile and multi-functional: The Trekking bike is suitable both for exciting trips in the area and for relaxed routes into the city. A brushed aluminum 28″ frame, Rigida hollow-chamber rims made of aluminum, a 24-Speed Shimano “Deore” gearset as well as Magura HS11 hydraulic rim brakes make the sporty all-around bike with Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (StVZO, which translates to “Road Traffic Licensing Regulations”, or “streel-legal”) equipment your multi-talented partner. It is available in a lady and in a gentleman version.

For the small purchase or longer touring, the City bike with StVZO equipment is ideal. The brushed aluminum framework exudes elegance on the road. A portion of sportyness guarantees the 7-speed Shimano “Nexus” gearset, the aluminum steering wheel and the V-Brake brakes. Beyond that, the comfortable and low entrance as well as the RST fork with lockout, which makes a mechanical bypass of the front suspension possible, offers special comfort.

On an exciting time journey to the wild ’70s, the Bonanza bike is limited to a production run of 500 pieces. Banana saddle, chrome-plated rims, rear view mirrors and white-stripe tires make the retro bike perfectly capture the Easy Rider feeling.

For the safe transport of your bike, Volkswagen offers comfortable transportation solutions to accessories for nearly all vehicle models. There are a variety of solutions for carrying bicycles on the roof, in the interior, or using hitch-mounted brackets. With an extension set even a third bike can be transported problem-free.
