Ahead of its official reveal at Wörthersee tomorrow, Vollkswagen have released a teaser video for the Golf GTI Clubsport S that asks what the FWD lap record is at the world famous Nürburgring.

Photographers captured the GTI Clubsport S lapping the track last week shortly before it was officially confirmed. Since then, many have speculated about whether or not the most powerful production Golf ever will beat the production lap record for front-wheel drive cars (7:54.3) set by a less powerful Renault. This video seems to suggest that it will.

We’re likely to get an answer tomorrow, when the car is officially revealed, but until then we know that the car makes 305 hp and is set up for the track . Lightweight materials are expected as well as unique suspension and damper settings.

The Golf GTI Clubsport S is slated to go on sale in the fall.
