Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced that it will support the 2007 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing season with a contingency awards program offering a total estimated payout of up to $300,000 to Volkswagen-registered SCCA competitors.
“The timing is right to support the Volkswagen SCCA competitors because it brings together our performance-inspired product offerings and the legions of SCCA members who have been driving, competing, racing and winning in Volkswagens for years. With the recent launch of racing-inspired vehicles like the GTI and R32, Volkswagen is making a return to our roots in racing,” said Clark Campbell, motorsports manager, Volkswagen of America, Inc.
Details on Volkswagen’s contingency fund will be available soon on www.vw.com and www.scca.com.
“Volkswagen has a long history in motorsports and we’re pleased to welcome them back to the SCCA,” said SCCA President and CEO Jim Julow. “It’s great to have Volkswagen’s commitment to the members of the Sports Car Club of America, and we look forward to a thrilling, competitive season.”
