- Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand Delivers Over Four Million Vehicles in Period to August
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced that Thursday, April 19th marked the 52nd anniversary of the formation of its sales division in the United States. The first offices were located in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. By the end of 1955, Volkswagen recorded 35, 851 sales in the United States, the majority of which were Karmann Ghias and Beetles.
Also during 1955, Volkswagen AG produced its one millionth car, and for the first time, exceeded the production level of one thousand cars per day.
