The automotive world is in Beijing this week, for the Auto China 2016 car show. Volkswagen is no exception, and last night it held a pre-show event to introduce China and the world to some of its latest models.

Volkswagen brand revealed their T-Prime Concept GTE last night , and spoke about the Phideon and the Magotan.

The Phideon is a high end, full-size sedan that was first revealed earlier this year. It has a luxurious interior and a turbocharged 3.0L V6 that produces 295 hp. The Magotan, meanwhile, is equivalent to the Passat and the new version is longer and features an updated design.

The Group also revealed that they will be investing $4 billion dollars into the Chinese market this year, and that similar investments will continue in the coming years. With that investment will come more independence for the Chinese arm of the group, much like in North America, thanks to the newly created North American Region.

The press event was also an opportunity for VW’s Chinese creative team, Team X, to introduce themselves. The team are young and hip, and though they come from diverse backgrounds, are focused on China. They'll be looking to keep Volkswagen on the leading edge of vehicle design.

Other brands in the VW group also had reveals at the press event, including Skoda, with a new three-row SUV concept called the Vision S.

Bentley, too, had a Chinese-market reveal, with their Muslanne First Edition. Only 50 First Editions will be built and they will feature a longer wheelbase, a custom engraved Flying B ornament, and special themed embroidery inside.

A new Porsche 718 Cayman S also made its world premiere at the press event. It features a new flat four engine, a new chassis, and new design. It will presumably share many elements and performance with the much lauded 718 Boxster.

The show also saw a new Audi TT RS revealed with a new turbocharged 2.5L five cylinder aluminum engine . The engine will produce 395bhp and will get to 60 in 3.7 seconds.
