Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Look to Remain Undefeated in Dallas Share Comments The Red Bull Global Rallycross 2016 season is only one weekend and two races deep, but things are looking pretty good for team Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross. Both races in Phoenix two weeks ago were won by Tanner Foust, while his teammate Scott Speed was never far behind. This weekend, the team is looking to keep right on winning in Dallas. This will be the GRC’s first time at Fair Park in Dallas, so it’s hard to make predictions about the results. That said, the last stop in Phoenix was also a first time event and Volkswagen dominated, so a lack of familiarity is no hindrance to them. “In Phoenix, we came out swinging and showed that our work in the offseason really paid off,” said Foust before taking to the track in Dallas. “We’re delighted with the speed in the car so far, and will keep working at it to make sure that no one else can catch us!” After his perfect weekend, though, Foust followed it up with an extremely troubled weekend in the UK. There, he raced in one of two FIA World Rallycross events he’ll be competing in this year, but mechanical gremlins ended his weekend very early. He’ll be looking to recover from that weekend with a strong performance back behind the wheel of his Beetle, instead of the Polo WRC he raced at England’s Lydden Hill Race Circuit. Scott Speed, meanwhile, had a relatively rough race in Phoenix, suffering mechanical issues of his own. Despite facing troubles there, he still managed to secure second place in the weekend’s second race, and that’s where he also sits in the driver’s championship. The track in Dallas is a 0.8 mile track whose joker lap comes right in the last pair of corners. It’s a mostly pavement track with only 20% of the surface made of dirt. The activities start today and conclude tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
