Audi Makes it Official: The RS7 to Debut on September 10

Audi has confirmed that it will debut two new products at the Frankfurt auto show next week. The RS7 and the AI:TRAIL will both take the stage on Tuesday, September 10.

With Volkswagen celebrating its group night on Monday, September 9, it’s worth keeping an eye out for early pictures and information about both cars, but they will officially take the stage the following day.

The RS7, we hardly have to tell you about. Likely to be powered by the same 4.0-liter V8 as the RS6 Avant, you can expect figures in the neighborhood of 550 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to its lack of sheet metal, though, it may accelerate to 60 even faster than the Avant’s 3.9 seconds.

Expect to also see more aggressive fascia, new aero elements, and an interior bedecked in Audi Sport accouterments.

The AI:TRAIL, meanwhile, is Audi’s vision of an electric off-roader. Teased earlier this summer, the concept will be a look into the future of the Audi brand. Just why it intends to suddenly get into off-roading is a mystery, though it’s likely that the Quattro will be alluded to often.

The updated A4, Q7, and A1 will also be in attendance and Frankfurt may be your first chance to see the cars photographed by someone other than Audi.

The brand is also showing off the new livery for its Formula E car. Following a tough season that picked up by the end, Audi Sport will be looking to maintain its reputation as one of the series’ top teams despite strong competition coming from its rivals at Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche.
