Audi RS Q8 Sets ‘Ring Record Before Its Even Revealed

Audi has taken its quickest upcoming crossover to the Nordschleife, looking to set a new record for the fastest SUV, off-roader, or pickup around the Nurburgring. And so, of course, the entire thing was captured on video for us to watch and enjoy.

The automaker hasn’t even revealed the SUV to us yet so we don’t even know exactly how much power it’ll get, though since it gets the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 from the RS6 wagon, we’re guessing 592 hp and 590 lb-ft are instore.

So just how fast was the RS Q8 able to lap the ‘Ring? According to the clip, the fast crossover did it in 7:42. Which puts it at right around the same time as Porsche’s electric Taycan or a first-gen Audi R8 V10. Not too shabby for this big beast of burden.

Expect to see the production version later this year, maybe even at the LA auto show later this month.
