Bentley Continental GT To Make Pikes Peak Production Car Record Attempt

Bentley will attempt to break the production car record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this June with a specially prepared Continental GT W12 driven by Rhys Millen.

This record attempt comes on the heels of Bentley’s record-breaking run at Pikes Peak in 2018, which saw Millen break the course record for production SUVs after traversing the hillclimb course in 10 minutes and 49.902 seconds.

It’s not clear what the current production car record at Pikes Peak is, with Bentley’s 2018 attempt seemingly the fastest run done by an actual production-based car with only limited safety-related modifications.

No matter what the current record is, Bentley and Millen are fairly confident the Continental GT and its 647 hp twin-turbo W12 engine can break it fairly easily.

“Bentley’s success last year along with the experience we gained will prove to be instrumental in preparing for our return to the mountain,” said Bentley Motorsport boss Brian Gush. “The challenge to set the outright record for production cars is not one we underestimate, but we are confident in the combination of our W12 engine, the dynamic ability of the new Continental GT and the outstanding skill of Rhys Millen.”

“The Continental GT and its W12 provide us with the perfect platform to begin chasing a new record, and I am looking forward to once again being part of the Bentley Motorsport team that will prepare the car over the coming months,” added Millen.

Look for Bentley’s specially prepared (and slightly oversized) Pikes Peak Continental GT to make its debut just before the automaker takes on the mountain this June.
