What's that? You're not ready for RADwood Detroit this weekend? Well here are two excellent MKIII GTIs that are show-ready. Yes, we know this is Build or Buy, and both of these beauties are short on the "build" portion of this series, we'll just ignore that because: VR6. Besides, a few weeks ago the MKII Jetta coupe BoB had two "build" cars, so why not balance that with two "buy" cars? Yin/Yang, right?

Article: 1998 GTI VR6

RADwood is all about celebrating the 80's and 90's. And it's all about attention; it's not just about the cars, it's about the music and the fashion. Is there a more attention-getting color than Ginster Yellow? Show up in this '98 and neon-clad hordes will quickly surround you.

This '98 looks to be flawless. We dare you to find a cleaner example. Look at the door jambs and engine bay: they're spotless. The paint shines like new. And the bolstered leather driver's seat shows very little wear.

This GTI rolls on period-correct 17" ABT wheels and rides on H&R coilovers. Some maintenance was recently done on the car, so it should get you from northern New Jersey to Detroit with no headaches. VWVortex member VW_Sporting has listed the car in our classifieds, but he's selling it for a friend. Current asking price: $8000.

A screaming yellow car will always grab people's attention, but so will a wild body kit. This '95 GTI VR6 will have Detroit folks craning their necks to get a better look. There's still time to find a jacket, fanny-pack, or Zumba pants that match the so-90s-it-hurts seat upholstery for a complete RADwood look.

The highlight of this car is the body kit. Upfront there's an aggressive "boser-style" hood, "halo ring" headlights, badgeless aftermarket grille, rare ABT lower lip, and more. Out back there's a large ABT hatch-mounted rear wing. The 17" Racing Hart wheels complete the period-correct look.

The interior is in great shape. Check out the column-mounted tach, the carbon-fiber dash trim, and the aftermarket stereo. Best of all, this '95 is just north of Chicago, so it's only a few hours from Detroit. Seal the deal on Friday, drive it to RADwood on Saturday.

The seller is asking $6,500. Get more information in the ad on thesamba.com .
