Find Of The Day: Slick Silver Scirocco

Who’s looking for a show car? This  1987 Volkswagen Scirocco 16V is ready to bring you home some trophies. It’s just about perfect inside and out, which makes it, um, the perfect car to be our Find Of The Day.

Ahhh, the Scirocco. Volkswagen’s two-generation sports coupe. A lightweight chassis, a nimble suspension, and a rev-happy engine make this an enthusiast’s dream car. It’s a great car for cruising curvy country roads with the windows down and the sunroof open. With salt still on the roads and the possibility of snow still in the forecasts, I can only dream of driving my own Scirocco 16V (insert daydream gaze and heavy sigh here).

And while my ‘Rocco is in decent enough shape, I dream of it being as clean as this FOTD. Take a look at the photos. The paint is perfect. The undercarriage and engine bay are spotless. The interior is in great shape. This car is a 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, there’s not much detail in the ad: the owner has had the car for 19 years, it has the original engine and 5-speed transmission, and it has a bunch of modifications. These aren’t listed, but here’s some of the many I can pick out:

  • Euro headlights
  • Aftermarket grille and lower air dam lip
  • Custom covers over what looks to be Euro bumpers
  • Body trim removed
  • Aftermarket wheels
  • Lowered suspension
  • Custom door panel inserts and matching pillar trim
  • Rear seat delete
  • Aftermarket stereo system and subwoofer

So if you’re in the market for a sure-to-win Scirocco show car, check out the ad for this 1987 16V on thesamba.com. The car is in Harwinton, Connecticut, and the seller is asking $9500.
