Forum Friday: Time Attack GTI

There are some pretty epic build threads in our forum, and this one is no exception. Over 16 pages you can follow along as VWvortex member TheDailyBoost takes his 2015 MK7 GTI from a mild racer to a full-fledged racer.

We don’t need to tell you that racing is not a poor man’s sport. The amount of money a driver can throw at a car to shave tenths of seconds off a lap time can be obscene. And to take a car you bought to be a daily driver and then modifying it for track use is one way to get your foot in the door. That’s just what TheDailyBoost did. When he bought his 2015 GTI he didn’t intend to race it; the heavy panoramic sunroof alone would hamper performance.

But over the years he’s taken away things here and there and added more and more performance parts. And one of the great things with this forum thread is the story it tells. Reading through all the posts, you not only see the transformation of the car, but also TheDailyBoost’s progress as a driver. He shares the ups and the downs of racing.

So set aside some time to review the Time Attack GTI thread. Read more about what it takes to build a true track car. TheDailyBoost, we salute you and will be cheering on your progress.
