There’s too much to see at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. That’s not a complaint, it’s just a fact. And for someone who grew up in what now appears to have been a backwater, I found myself asking if the cars I was seeing were real.

“Is that a real Cobra or a Factory Five?” It was the second-to-last 427 Cobra ever produced and it sold later that afternoon for nearly $2 million.

The Amelia Island Concours is a show “the”s. That is THE Porsche 962 that won Le Mans. That’s THE Porsche 356 that Janis Joplin owned. That’s THE Ferrari 250 GT SWB that won the Le Mans and that is now owned by Bruce Meyers, namesake of the Meyers Manx.

You could get whiplash from all of the neck-craning cars that are just parked hither and yon, driving around like they aren’t pant-wettingly pretty and nation-GDP-rivalingly expensive.
