Lambo Teases 830 HP Track Monster

Lamborghini appears to be building a new track-only model. The first peek at the car comes via a 30-second teaser ad released to YouTube.

Bearing the 63 of the Aventador SVJ’s hottest model—which itself is a reference to year of the company’s founding–rumor has it that the car was developed by Lambo’s in-house racing experts, Squadra Corse.

Lamborghini has revealed that the car will be powered by an unrestricted version of the same 6.5-liter V12 that powers the Aventador. That will mean 830 hp and plenty of aero mods to keep the rest of the car in check.

As you’d expect, production will be limited. Bearing something in common with the SC18 one-off Lamborghini produced in 2018, the car could be the homologation special that allows it to compete in the upcoming Le Mans supercar class.

“We don’t have the budget to invest in a totally new project, but the SC18 shows that we have a base for what could be an interesting approach,” CEO Stefano Domenicali told Autocar in August. “The car shows that we have internal capabilities for such a [Le Mans] project.”

If, indeed, this ends up duking it out with other hypercars at Le Mans, Lamborghini will be required to build a minimum of 20 road-going versions to homologate the car.

We’ll have to wait until next year to find out more. So far, Lamborghini hasn’t deigned to provide us with a name for the car, but the name Aventador SVR has been suggested–the name would be a reference to the Miura Jota SVR.
