Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Breaks Another German Lap Record Share Comments The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the fastest production car ever to lap Germany’s Hockenheimring. Rounding the Grand Prix track in just 1:47.3, the Aventador SVJ beat the McLaren 720S by nearly a whole second and the 911 GT2 RS by nearly two whole seconds. A modified, 880 hp Corvette has apparently run the lap half a second faster but was not stock. The lap time was recorded by SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt, a pro driver who runs cars around the track regularly for SportAuto. The record comes months after Lamborghini’s own attempt at the Nurburgring. It still holds the production car lap record around the storied track. Lamborghini attributes the 770 hp supercar’s success to its Aerodinamica Attiva Lamborghini system, which manipulates the air running over the car with small flaps in the bodywork. These, says Lamborghini, allow the car to develop more downforce and less drag. Also, there’s a Countach in this video for no discernable reason. Not that we’re complaining.
