Lamborghini Launches Huracan Evo Spyder RWD

It’s Huracan season, and this latest Evo model is arriving ready to ruin that expensive haircut you spent so much time protesting to get. The 610 hp Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder rear-wheel drive is here, letting you open the top to hear the 610 hp V10 blast its song out the tailpipes to everyone lucky enough to be in the vicinity.

There are no big surprises here, but then again, does there really need to be? It’s the Huracan formula you know and love, in the refreshed Evo form, this time in donut-friendly rear-drive format and without a roof. That means a 5.2L V10 sitting in front of the rear wheels putting down 610 hp just like the coupe, able to hit 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and run all the way to 201 mph. Though we’re not sure you’d want to try that with the roof open. What you will want to try is listening to that glorious engine sound without a metal roof and extra glass blocking the path from pipe to ear.

That top can be opened or closed at speeds of up to 30 mph, and you can raise or lower it in about 17 seconds. You can lower the glass rear window independently of the roof, letting some extra noise in rain or shine on command. Lamborghini says the top and air deflection makes it quiet enough “for easy conversation and entertainment” top up or down. Except that the entertainment in a Lambo isn’t about being quiet.

You can look at it now on Lamborghini’s website, using Apple AR Quick Look on your iPhone or iPad to see it in sort-of 3D. Or you can wait for this summer when deliveries are expected to start with an entry price of just over $229,000.
