The Mk8 Golf Previewed in Official Volkswagen Rendering

Well, here it is. Sort of. This is Volkswagen’s official preview of the 2020 Mk8 Golf.

Set to debut on October 24, Volkswagen is promising big changes for the eighth-generation Golf. Lots of technology inside, 48-volt mild hybridization under the hood, and new engines will help it lead the increasingly competitive hatchback market.

VW has previously indicated that it’s planning on leading the semi-autonomous and connected vehicle charge for the compact segment with the Golf MK8. The hatch is expected to feature connected services such as live fuel price displays and self-updating 3D mapping, along with a suite of semi-autonomous features.

In a statement last year, VW said the Golf MK8 will take it “into the era of fully connected vehicles with extended autonomous driving functions.” It also said the hatch will “have more software on board than ever before. It will always be online and its digital cockpit and assistance systems will be the benchmark in terms of connectivity and safety.”
