All-New Touareg Will Be Revealed at Beijing Show

Volkswagen is introducing a brand new Touareg crossover at the Beijing Motor Show next month, but the automaker has given us a first look at the new design.

The sketch shows a silhouette that takes design elements from the Atlas and new Tiguan, but with more curves. The grille and fender vent call strongly to the new Tiguan, but the hood is more rounded than its siblings. The side bodyline shows more curves and hints at wide shoulders over the rear arches. The curved roofline looks more like it’s Porsche Cayenne distant sibling than it does the boxy Atlas.

Volkswagen says that the new Touareg is the brand’s flagship and a milestone in the company’s latest run of new models.

The Touareg will debut a new Innovision Cockpit. That will give VW one of the largest digital cockpits in the class. It will have new innovative assistance systems along with an air suspension system. The third-generation Touareg will get rear-wheel steering and roll stabilization to give it improved driving dynamics.

Volkswagen has sold almost a million Touaregs since the model launched in 2002. The newest generation will be revealed March 23rd at the Beijing Motor Show
