Ratty Rescue: 2011 Gee Tee Aye-Yai-Yai Share Comments Yes, mom, we know: “If you don’t have anything nice to say…” So with that in mind, we’ll focus only on the positive attributes of this week’s Ratty Rescue. (Muttering to ourselves quietly: Nice things to say…nice things to say…) Well, to start, this Ratty Rescue is not at all ratty. With a tick over 105,000 miles, it looks like this 2011 MK6 GTI is in very good condition. The (ahem…visible) body panels are dent free. There’s no rust despite being a Michigan car. The plaid seats show no wear. The only thing that gives away the age of this hot hatch is the scuffed 18″ Hufweisen wheels. (Ok, that was a good start. Keep it up!) This is a six-speed manual car; great for drivers who love shifting for themselves. (Whaaaaat elsssse?) Previous ImageNext ImagePreviousNextView Large Did we mention this is a 3-door GTI? If you love the look of cars with only two passenger doors, they’re becoming more and rarer. (Furiously scanning the photos) There’s also a sunroof (that some sun can still come through). (This is getting harder.) Oh! The owner converted most, maybe even all, of the interior and exterior lighting to LED bulbs giving the car a very modern appearance. (Ummmm…) It has a clean title! (We’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel here) Errrrr…if restoring an old car seemed like a lot of work or beyond your ability, here’s a seven-year-old model that you can practice on. Bring it back to its original glory complete with sporty, yet understated styling. (Something to wrap this up…..got it!) Or if you are looking for something that’s a bit more…visually enthusiastic, then this could be the car for you. (Yesssss!) Check out the craigslist ad for this 2011 GTI. It’s located in Warren, Michigan. Asking price: $10,000. Completely unrelated to this article: we hear you can get great deals on heat guns and adhesive remover at The Home Depot.
