Via de los Muertos: Jamie Orr’s Spanish Hearse Challenge Share Comments Jamie Orr is on the road again. This time, rather than driving across the nation to buy a Mk3 Golf of many colors, he’s flown to Spain to buy… a hearse? But not just any hearse. This one is based on an Audi that apparently didn’t come with A/C, despite the fact that it was made to cart around corpses in the Spanish sun. Sun, which according to Jamie, was beating down to the tune of 100 degrees. Sun which we’re sure will only do the 20-year-old tires favors. Fortunately for Jamie, hearses are apparently limited to 100 km/h (62 mph) in Spain—despite the fact that the speed limits for other vehicles rise to 130 km/h (80 mph), so the tire situation could hold out until he makes it Nurburg, where he plans to take the thing on that place’s eponymous ring—that’s the Nurburgring to you and me. 777 miles solo in the Audi Hearse, in 19 continuous hours since leaving Madrid. Which means the car & I have averaged 41mph solo including all stops etc. I’m okay with that 😅 #Œ #orchideuro #audihearse #deathdrive #carchallenge #audi #audi80 #vw #europeanpickers #putthefuninfuneral #audiceased #funeria #france #roadtrip A post shared by Jamie Orr (@xjamiexoe) on Aug 2, 2017 at 6:15am PDT Last we heard, Jamie was driving toward Lyon to pick up a Brazilian friend—because of course he is—having narrowly escaped being human-trafficked and is nearly halfway through his 2,500 km drive (1,550 miles). Europe’s a weird place full of at least one more weird (but lovable) person.
