Volkswagen of America Sales Improve Again in April Share Comments More than 27,000 new Volkswagens were purchased in America this April. That marks an improvement of 1.64% over April of 2016 and amounts to an improvement of nearly 8% for the year so far. The golf family, the Passat, and unusually the Beetle Coupe all helped to raise the sales total with increases of 40%, 10%, and 50% respectively. Sales of the Jetta and the Tiguan, though, fell by 12% and 22% respectively. Both are volume models for the brand, and the Jetta Sportwagen had already become the Golf Sportwagen by this point last year, so the drops aren’t good news for VW. With more than 103,000 cars sold so far this year, though, an increase of nearly 8% is welcome news. And with a new model coming later this month (the Atlas) things should improve even further.
