Volkswagen ID.4 and Arteon Shooting Brake Leak Online Share Comments With full details of the new Arteon expected to come any day now and details on the ID.4 expected not much later, it was always going to be difficult for VW to keep all its press shots under wraps. Now they’ve leaked in China. The Arteon is due for a facelift this month, which VW hopes will help get the car some much-needed attention. Despite being well-reviewed and pretty unassailably attractive, the Arteon has failed to match hotcake-level sales since its introduction in 2017. The new design appears to take an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to redesigns, leaving much of what was already attractive about the design alone. If the pictures are legitimate, they don’t show many changes apart from the under-light grille elements and a bigger nameplate behind the front wheel well. There may be a few sharper creases, too, but it’s hard to tell with the lighting. Overall, it’s an attractive design and we hope to see officially published images soon. Meanwhile, the ID.4 looks, as VW promised, a lot like the concept cars that came before it. It also follows pretty closely with the design language set by the ID.3, as you’d expect. The post from CarNewsChina indicates that these pictures include both the “ID.4 X and the ID.4 Crozz.” The former being larger and the latter being a smaller vehicle that toes the line between car and crossover. The wheelbase, though, is the same, claims the outlet, and both are being built by FAW-Volkswagen. That means that although this will give a very good indication of what to expect visually, there may still be differences between these cars and the production versions of the ID.4 that are sold here.
