Check Out VW’s Adorable New Tiny Crossover Coupe

Volkswagen’s South American has released its latest crossover coupe, the Nivus. The cute little crossover is the first VW designed in South America that will go on to be sold in Europe.

“Since the beginning of the project, we have defined that the Nivus’ design should be innovative, attractive, and, at the same time, functional,” says Carlos Pavone, head VW’s Latin American design team.

That means coupe-like lines, aggressive hood lines, and fun lighting elements all around. And under that aggressive hood will sit a flex-fuel three-cylinder 200 TSI engine. It delivers 126 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque—when powered by ethanol.

Inside, the Nivus gets many of the Golf 8’s new toys. A 10-inch infotainment screen is next to a digital gauge cluster. The new screen will have access to VW Play Apps, a virtual store created to let VW owners download apps like parking apps, audiobook apps, music apps, and navigation apps like Waze directly onto the infotainment system.

The Nivus will hit Brazillian dealerships in the next few weeks, and will then hit the rest of South America before heading out to Europe, where it will be built at a European factory.
