GTI Price Up $1,025 for 2020

The 2020 GTI is getting a price bump, says a new report, but if you’re wondering why it’ll be coming with more active safety bits as standard to help ease some of the sting.

$1,025 is the increase, says Cars Direct, meaning a new GTI will start from $29,515 with destination. That’s $1,000 in MSRP and $25 in destination. But, of course, there’s always more to it than that. In this case, Volkswagen is adding features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert as standard. Previously, those came only in the driver assistance package, which is a feature many drivers probably want anyway. If you were planning to order them already, the price increase is just $225 over last year.

DSG buyers will note that the gap between DSG and manual has shrunk from $1,100 to $800 for the base car, but both are still up from last year. Loaded up, and Autobahn SE car is $38,215, which is $1,325 more than last year.

With the new model year, the warranty drops, which is also something to be aware of. From 6 years, 72,000 miles to 4/50, but there is now free maintenance for the first two years.
