Volkswagen Becomes Official Automotive Sponsor of “Food Network Star”

  VW’s efficient and powerful TDI® Clean Diesel lineup will transport finalists and their supplies throughout the season, and make a special cameo in a  “VW Challenge” episode

Herndon, VA (June 4, 2015) — Volkswagen of America, Inc., is thrilled to team with Food Network as the presenting automotive sponsor of the 11th season of the “Food Network Star” competition series, beginning June 7. Volkswagen’s efficient and powerful TDI® clean diesel vehicles will be seen transporting the twelve finalists throughout the season, as they battle in a series of unique challenges to win their own show on Food NetworkThe Passat TDI, Golf SportWagen TDI and Touareg TDI will be featured in the “VW Challenge” episode, airing June 28. The Golf SportWagen TDI will be seen on the “Star Salvation” web series, where eliminated chefs compete to return to “Food Network Star.”

Volkswagen’s sponsorship includes product integration in both broadcast and digital properties that highlight the brand’s high-performing and efficient TDI® Clean Diesel vehicles.

Volkswagen models that will be featured in “Food Network Star,” include:

  • The 2015 Passat TDI, with EPA-estimated fuel economy of 44 mpg on the highway and a highway range of up to 814 miles.
  • The 2015 Golf SportWagen TDI, with EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 43 mpg, and range of up to 567 highway miles. It offers comparable cargo volume to compact SUVs on the market—30.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 66.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat.
  • The 2015 Touareg TDI, Volkswagen’s premium SUV, which achieves an EPA-estimated 29 mpg on the highway and offers a remarkable range of up to 765 highway miles from the large 26.4-gallon fuel tank.
