Volkswagen Letting You Sign Anywhere, Completing Your Vehicle Purchase Remotely

Want to buy a new VW while you’re sitting on the can? You can do it now, thanks to VW Credit offering up Sign Anywhere at more than 420 of the automaker’s dealerships nationwide.

VW of America and VW Credit announced the new program today, a digital signature tool powered by CDK Global that lets customers digitally sign their transaction documents using their computer or mobile device. Most importantly, without having to step into a showroom, something many buyers are still concerned about as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

While digital signatures aren’t exactly new, VW says it’s one of the first to offer the technology when it comes to new vehicles. “Planning to implement this technology began two years ago but since this pandemic took hold, we’ve accelerated our plan to make this a permanent tool for our dealers,” said Anthony Bandmann, President and CEO of VW Credit, Inc. “Customers are asking for flexibility and looking for peace of mind especially during this time and Sign Anywhere helps provide that

The Sign Anywhere tool uses two-factor authentication to send information to your device, limited currently to states where remote transactions are allowed by legislation. Local dealers are responsible for making sure they’re following local laws. It started as a pilot with 10 dealers in April, and positive feedback has lead to expansion of the service.

Volkswagen says that since the Sign Anywhere tool was implemented, more than 1,900 purchase or leases were finalized this way. So if you’re rock climbing in the Rockies, fishing off the Florida Keys, stuck in your office, or just sitting on the couch, you can finish up your super-fun new car paperwork. As long as you’ve got an internet connection. Once that’s done, it’s up to you and your dealer to arrange the hand-over of your new Dub.
