Volkswagen Reports Double-Digit April Growth Share Comments Volkswagen marked double-digit sales growth last month thanks to strong sales in nearly every market. It was a very good April for VW vehicles sales, with the brand delivering 520,000 vehicles. That’s up 11 percent compared with the year before. Board member Jürgen Stackmann said that “the Volkswagen brand continues to step up the pace. We have already passed the 2 million vehicle mark after four months and have generated enthusiasm for Volkswagen with more customers than ever before.” VW has topped 2 million vehicles already this year, at 2.045 by the end of April. That’s up 7.1 percent from 1.91 the same time last year. Growth is strong in all markets except North America, which saw a drop of about 100 vehicles. That’s despite 4.4 percent increases in the U.S. and 4.5 percent in Canada. Sales in Europe were up 13 percent with Germany showing stronger growth than that at 15 percent. China saw sales up 9.5 percent, and Russia was up 22.7 percent, hitting 8,900 vehicles sold. In South America, Brazil saw a huge 48.3 percent increase in sales, thanks to strong demand for the Polo as well as the Polo-based Virtus sedan. Stackmann said that the new Polo has already seen 140,000 deliveries worldwide and the T-Roc has topped 40,000.
