Volkswagen UK Creates “Virtual Treffen” in Forza Horizon 4

Since drivers in the UK haven’t been allowed to drive for pleasure during the lockdown, Volkswagen’s UK office has decided to go virtual. Although virtual races have been common (and infamous), VW decided to focus more on enthusiasts than on professionals.

With the help of Tom Exton, host of the popular TGE TV YouTube channel, VW has been hosting virtual meetups in Forza Horizon 4 and giving away some of the 16 vehicles available to drive in the game.

The first “virtual Treffen” took place on May 17 and attendees were invited to show off the VWs they’d built in the game and were given a special car through the game for attending.

More than 2,000 ID.Rs were given away on that first Sunday and in the following Sundays, more than 5,000 in-game cars were given to players who showed up for the meets.

The last meetup is scheduled to take place this Sunday, June 7 at 8:00 PM BST and you can watch the livestream on YouTube.

“During a time of uncertainty and with many feeling a bit more isolated at home,” said Exton. “It’s been great to not only connect with followers of Volkswagen, but also to involve everyone wherever they are in something fun and positive every week.”
