Volkswagen’s Modular Infotainment System Receives Award at CES

Volkswagen’s Modular Infotainment System (MIB II) received the “2015 Editors’ Choice Award” at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.  The jury put additional emphasis on the smartphone interface “AppConnect”, which is the first and only system that customers can connect smartphones via MirrorLink as well as Android and Apple car CarPlay. Positive ratings resulted from the familiar interface, ease of use and value for money.  A market launch in the United States is scheduled for summer 2015.

The MIB II is the second generation of the Modular Infotainment System, bringing the most modern radio, navigation and internet technologies into the vehicle.  It is currently available in the European market Passat, Polo and Beetle, with the “AppConnect” extension for Apple and Google Android CarPlay to follow within the year. MIB II will become available in the Golf, Golf Sportsvan, Golf Cabrio, Passat CC, Scirocco, Jetta, Touran, Sharan, and Tiguan soon with respective functions depending on the device.

The “CES Editors’ Choice Award” is given by the editors of reviewed.com, a division of USA Today. The website publishes daily reviews for everyday electronic devices.
